Year 7–8

Explore

The emphasis for Years 7 and 8 is on exploration of interests. Studies include integrated units, with a focus on real-life contexts. The first year of Secondary aims to provide a transition between Primary and Secondary to obtain new skills and explore new subjects and to provide a combination of a Core course of Australian Curriculum Phase 1 Learning Areas and specialty secondary areas.

Students can explore an extensive range of subjects in Year 7 and 8, to ensure they have opportunity in all areas of the curriculum. We explore their interests and the God-given talents and abilities.

Respect & Responsibility

We believe in nurturing the holistic development of our students, instilling in them values that go beyond academic study. In these formative years, our focus is on fostering a culture of respect and responsibility. Through a comprehensive curriculum and supportive environment, we guide students to understand the importance of respecting themselves, their peers, and their community.

Year 8 Mentors

Year 11 mentors offer continuous support to help guide Year 8 students throughout the year. This program builds students’ abilities in compassion and empathy. Mentors are paired with a small group of Year 8 mentees with whom they meet regularly to provide advice and support. The mentor groups compete in fun activities during Year 8 camp and other opportunities throughout the year, building teamwork and friendships.

Pastoral Care

Dedicated Heads of Year levels provide important pastoral care and individualised support.

Male and female Heads of Year 7 are allocated to provide extra attention and support to accommodate the emotional and social needs of students during this transition and foundational year in Secondary.
